Welcome to East Carteret High School!

Your counselor is assigned according to your last name:

• Grades 9-11:  A – L are assigned to Mrs. Elizabeth Kappel
• Grades 9-11:  M – Z are assigned to Ms. Sandy Treadway
• Grade 12:  Same as above, except if you were Ms. Gaynelle Smith’s student last year, you may choose either Mrs. Kappel or Ms. Treadway to be your counselor.

Although counselors are assigned alphabetically, you do not need to change your last name to change your counselor!  All you have to do is to ASK…and the counselors do not take it personally since they both serve several students throughout the alphabet.  The designation is to ensure that someone is helping you make it through all of the courses you need to graduate.
